Version 2.3.0 Released

Daniel spent a few days adding an interesting new feature to Creative Docs .NET. You should download version 2.3.0 now to get access to...

Automatic layer thumbnails for the active page (click on the small arrow near the top of the scroll bar, at the right of the document).

Automatic page thumbnails for the active document (click on the small arrow near the left of the scroll bar, at the bottom of the document).

Improved zooming with the scroll wheel; turning the mouse wheel will zoom in and out without moving the document around, if this is possible. Point the mouse to where you want to zoom in and turn the wheel.

Tons of little fixes.

I'm wondering if SVG format is in the plans. This is perhaps the biggest feature that is holding back a magnitude of adoption.

Well, sorry, no. Not for the moment. I know SVG import/export would be great, just like XAML import/export, too. But that's just more free time than what we can currently afford.

Hello François, il y a bien une version francophone de Creative Docs .NET qui existe sous le nom de Crésus Documents. Mais c'est un logiciel payant, contrairement à Creative Docs .NET qui est gratuit. Une version de démonstration peut être téléchargée à partir du site d'Epsitec (http://www.epsitec.ch/products/doc/).

What is the limitation on system fonts. I had to remove a large number of fonts to get the program to open? I have 220 fonts installed. It took me awhile to figure out that it was fonts causing the program to crash on startup. I look forward to trying it out now. It looks promising.

Yes, there is a (not well) known issue with high number of fonts. This seems to be a memory issue when analyzing the system fonts on startup; somehow, Creative Docs .NET cannot manage to load all fonts, because there seems to be a leak somewhere, which I have not yet been able to track down. Someone complained that the limit was at about 700 fonts. Your limit seems to be much lower.

Regarding licensing. Says *free for personal use*. Does this include education use (i.e. non-profit K-12 schools)?

If not who is best to contact regarding this?

Hi, yes, feel free to use Creative Docs .NET for education use, as long as you do not charge money for using Creative Docs .NET.
